Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV)

HEVs combine a gasoline engine, an electric motor and a battery. When the battery is charged, the vehicle will be moved by the electric motor, which will be recharged by energy recovered during braking and by the gasoline engine.
Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles (PHEV)

PHEVs also combine an electric motor and a gasoline engine, but unlike HEVs, they have a larger, more capable battery, which provides more kilometers of autonomy in 100% electric mode. The battery is charged by plugging into an external electrical source. However, energy is also recovered when braking, like HEVs.
100% Electric Vehicles (BEV)

BEV vehicles have a much larger battery capacity that powers the vehicle's electric motors. To recharge the BEV battery, it must be plugged into an external power source; however, it also recovers energy whenever the vehicle brakes.
